“Like time standing still. To the cables of the panoramic elevator and the strings of a piano. Francesco has more than one string to his bow. Musician and scientist in the field of photovoltaic cells.” - Nicolas Martin

Candy Trees
“Neoclassical piano music blended with pop vocals for a totally innovative sound.”

BIO
Candy Trees is the artistic project of Francesco Lodola. Francesco is one of a kind, capable of reaching high levels in both physics and music. From publishing scientific papers in the best journals to advocating for climate and social justice, his creativity reaches its peak through the piano and music in general.
He started learning the piano at 8 years old and conceived his first neoclassical piano song the following year. During middle school, he began to explore his style through neoclassical piano compositions. However, it was only in high school, while studying classical piano and composition at the Conservatory of Parma, Francesco unlocked his potential. These years have been a laboratory of sound exploration in the piano palette: the classical and neoclassical piano traditions blend with more modern pop vocal music, with dance influences.
The resulting music project is piano pop, where fascinating pop vocal melodies blend into innovative neoclassical piano parts within an electronic pop structure. This creates a truly innovative sound and style. During live performances, Francesco plays with a band, which gives him the freedom to add piano solos and improvisations, which are among the key elements of music language.
Between playing concerts at festivals and venues and writing scientific papers, he is also involved in activism. The upcoming album “Change it all”, written and produced entirely by Francesco in his bedroom, with Francesco also drawing the artworks, follows this direction. Social and climate justice are the main themes of the record, sometimes hidden in more intimate lyrics and sometimes expressed more explicitly. This encourages the listeners to change the world for the better, with a positive attitude. This blends his effort as a PhD researcher in physics of solar energy, his vegan lifestyle and activism, and his intrinsic artistic nature.
